Rules for Series 2008
1.
Relevant HRCAV rules apply, unless otherwise
specified for the purpose of this competition Series only.
2.
Entry into the Series is included in the normal Event entry fee.
3.
The Series is made up of five separate Events to be held on 27 April
(Monash Adult Riding Club – Show Jumping Event), 4
May (Nepean Equestrian Club – Horse Trials), 15 June (South Eastern Dressage
Club – Autumn Series Day 3 - Dressage), 10 August (Berwick Riding Club –
“Winter Woollies” Show) and 19
October (Merricks Riding Club – Combined Training Day)..
4.
Each Event will be run under appropriate HRCAV “official” status. All
competitions on the day will attract “Hi-point” points that will be used to
calculate the Series winners. The points to be registered on the Series system
against the riders Dressage level.
5.
The Series will have an HRCAV Winner at each Level from Level 1
(including Advanced) through to Level 5.
The
Series Winner at each Level will receive a Woollen Rug and
Sash, Series second – Cotton Rug and Sash, 3rd
through 6th – Prize and sash.
6.
Each class will be allocated points to a horse/rider combination in the Level in
which they were gained, on a sliding scale: eg: 1st = 6 points, 2nd
= 5 points, 3rd = 4 points, 4th = 3 points, 5th
= 2 points, 6th = 1 point.
In the result of equal placings the points will be
added together and split evenly between the equal placegetters, eg in the case
of an equal 1st placing between two horse/rider combinations, the points from
the 1st and 2nd placings are added together and divided by two: 6 + 5 = 11
div 2 = 5.5 pts to each competitor.
In
the result of equal placings for the Series – see clause 10.
Where
there are less than six competitors in the competition for a particular Level
the Series points will be determined by the number of horse/rider combinations
in the competition, eg a competition has four horse/rider combinations, points
will be allocated on a sliding scale: eg: 1st = 4 points, 2nd = 3 points,
3rd = 2 points, 4th = 1 point.
7. If a horse/rider combination points up a Dressage Level
during the Series and rides at all five of the Series Events, any Series points
gained in both Levels will be amalgamated. The
horse/rider combination will be eligible for Series placing in the Level in
which they competed at the majority of Events.
Eg. If a horse/rider gains
Series points from two Events in Level 4 and one Event in Level 3, the
points would be amalgamated and the horse/rider is eligible for Series placing
in Level 4.
8.
If a horse/rider combination rides in four of the five Series Events and
points up to the next Level for the second two of the four Events, their total
Series points will be eligible for Series placing in the lower Level.
Eg, If a horse/rider combination gains Series points at two Event in
Level 4 but then points up and rides at the second two Events in Level 3, the
points gained at both Levels would be amalgamated and will make the combination
eligible for Series placing in Level 4.
9. Where there is a change of horse/rider combination
during the Series the new combination starts afresh from that point in the
Series. Any points earned by the
original combination will remain eligible for Series placings.
10. A count back will be used to determine a clear Series winner in each Level in the case of a tie.
Attendance
at a greater number of Series Events; then
Greater
number of 1st places; then
Greater
number of 2nd places; until riders could be separated.
11.
A combination of horse and rider must compete in at least three Events to
be eligible for the Series prize.
12. Presentations to the Series
competition winners will be made at the end of the competition to be held at the
final event in the series.
13.
Decisions
made by the organising committee and Ground Jury are final.
These
rules are adapted from those for the Golden Spurs Dressage Series and the BMW
Showjumping Series and South Eastern Dressage Club Inc Spring Carnival Dressage
Series, Rodian Homes Southern Show Jumping Series and Southern Combined Training
